You need more than just a “great voice.”
Welcome to 21st Century Hollywood – A Webinar Series presented by Kevin E. West. Ahhh…yes, the voice, that little thing most humans spend every day using without thinking about it. But when it comes to actually “doing it” in a tiny little booth when you’re “on the spot” and having to tell a story with it that a distracted audience with believe while driving along in their car listening to the radio, it is a whole other level of talent. If we’ve heard it once, we’ve heard it a zillion times, when someone compliments someone else on the “timber of their voice” and suggests that they “do voice-over” work. Ha. It is a whole lot more difficult than that and while yes, it is great to have a lovely sound, your ability to communicate a character and a story in a short period of time…will be the difference in making any money in this exceptionally competitive field. With anything that is a “game within a game” there is a very high-level of specificity required and Voice-Over is the ultimate “talent game within the talent game.” Those who are good are usually great.
