Paule, first time in San Diego and first theatrical booking. When I read the audition notice and it said audition in San Diego I thought it was a typo, but it wasn't. I didn't complain to my agent that the audition was far, I graciously thanked him and said I'd be there. I'm an actor with no credits and no reputation or relationships. I can't be picky at this point in my career. I prepared my character and dressed the part. I arrived in San Diego 2 hours before my scheduled time. I rehearsed my lines in the car and strengthened my choice with more ideas. My only purpose was to be present and execute each moment fully. I was given an adjustment by the casting director to take it down half way and when I did she said she didn;t need me to read the other Security officer, her words "if I can do that, you can do the other." She asked if I was available for the shoot date I said yes. I read nothing into her comment. I was satisfied with what I'd given her and left it in San Diego. I followed up with my agent and let him know if anything she'd have me read for her again. I proceeded to move on with my life. When I booked it, I was ecstatic, not only was I getting my first credit but I had a scene with the lead actor which is great reel material. Being on that set was the most amazing experience. I realized, like the Marines you are prepared for battle but there is nothing like being in the actual war. I learned so much and still processing my experience. Most importantly, I vowed to myself to make every job feel as good as the first, for myself.
