Amen!! Kevin, it has bugged me for years that there isn't an apprentice program. I have tons of old SAG contracts sitting away in filing cabinets. Remember, the SAG experimental contract? I belong in the union. I've worked my butt off to be a professional but I wasn't handed my eligible status through all these projects I've done but because I lucked into a picture pick for 2 vouchers and a friend helped me get my third. It doesn't make sense!! If you ever go in front of board at SAG, let us know. I would love to be there to hear the discussion.

When Actors truly band together as they should they will find a special Glory that few ever know...Shakespeare wrote these wonderful inspiring words to Bond men and women and all souls in a moment of great importance...called Honor and Integrity before a great battle...and he wrote...for Henry V at a difficult moment on the battlefield...'We few, we happy few...we Band of Brothers ...for he today who sheds his blood with me this day ...Shall be my Brother ; be he ne'er so vile, this day shall gentle his condition: and Gentlemen in England now a -bed Shall think themselves accursed they were not here, And hold their manhood's cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.' (fast forward to) 'All things are ready if our minds be so!' Blessings to the NEW Group...to find that connection...I hope they read what you have written all 5 and be inspired ...:)

Yes the Fear change...they need a roof over their heads...so they can look for work...or a car to sleep in...and just when they thought the were apart of a GUILD ...they find out it is a Union with Vouchers...and just when they thought the GUILD's Motto and Mission statement of 'We Take Care of Our Own' including ALL the members...they discover you are really not a member until you have 10 years vested. And that the Senior Center is Gone...So yes Actors have Fear. Including they are told they have an Agent or Manager and they PAID to meet with 100 casting directors and NEVER got a call to read for anything. Or they grew Old Too soon for a role...that last year they were perfect for...the fear of each year they are further from what they wanted to do as James Dean did...but he died at 24. That they know the CLOCK ticks faster for an Artist then any profession...so yes...they need some basic feeling of security...the most painful observation I have seen is ACTORS only feel safe and hopeful AFTER they get the job and show up on the set. The Audition process is a 'GO BACK TO THE END OF THE LINE' and start again. The few who have no Fear do that over and over ...and focus on their dream. However the reality is I have observed at Auditions it is a Nightmare for those who have done it for so long...and the look and act like they have lost their focus. Age is a tricky REALITY. And the concept that a UNION will save all these Lost souls...who need so very much to belong...to feel they mattered... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pKbxF5ACZg&feature=player_embedded This short is a special gift from me to ALL GREAT ACTORS and their frustration and fear...Blessings to all...I wish you all the courage to do the work and know that is what matters in the end...'The Work'...and hopefully the NEW Group formed whatever they call themselves Focuses on getting ACTORS young and OLD...more WORK by understanding the Economy...and finding creative ways to have actors WORKING...so they know that the GROUP they belong to ...DOES ITS BEST...not just what is OKAY. Or Good but EXCELLENCE is fought for in the area of creating WORK opportunities for all it's MEMBERS...Not the focus of INITIATION FEES and DUES for doing little or Nothing to CREATE WORK... Blessings to all...
